Bas VAN ABEL

Bas van Abel (1977) est fondateur et CEO de Fairphone, qui a créé un téléphone capable de découvrir des systèmes de production complexes et changer la façon dont les produits sont fabriqués. Le “Open design” est la force motrice de plusieurs de ses initiatives, combinée à sa passion pour la construction de nouvelles rapports entre les personnes et les produits. Avant de se joindre à Fairphone, Bas a dirigé le Open Design Lab de Waag Society, où il a établi le FABLab d’Amsterdam, un espace communautaire. Il a également lancé le restaurant Instructables, le premier restaurant open source au monde.

Bas van Abel (1977) is founder and CEO of Fairphone, a social enterprise which creates a phone to uncover complex production systems and change how products are made. Open design is the driving force behind many of his initiatives, combined with his passion for building new relationships between people and products. Prior to Fairphone, Bas was Head of Waag Society’s Open Design Lab, where he established Amsterdam’s FABLab, a community maker space, and initiated the Instructables Restaurant, the world’s first open source restaurant.
