[Line Up] Zoom on 4 of our speakers !
It’s with great pleasure that we can reveal the first names of the line up of Web2day to you!
We are extremely proud and happy to welcome these experts, who we hope will be exceptional, for this edition, .
Keep an eye on our Speakers page, this will fill out day by day!
Because we enjoy it, we wanted to focus on 4 of them, Bas Van Abel, Rossalyn Warren, Julien Lesaicherre, and Rand Hindi.
Let’s start with our Dutch neighbor, Bas Van Abel, founder and CEO of Fairphone. His startup was established in Amsterdam in 2013. It designs and produces the first fair smartphones that are people and environmentally friendly.. A strategy that goes against all the practices of his competitors in the smartphone industry, but which has led him to win several prestigious awards, including the first award of the German Environmental Award 2016.
Bas is also a pioneer in the fight against foreseen obsolescence. His products are designed in Open Design, and allow users to replace the components as well as the operating system. For this ninth edition of Web2day, Bas Van Abel will give a speech to share his vision and approach to responsible entrepreneurship, as well as his passion for Open Design.
Just like Bas, Rossalyn Warren defends her values. She fights to assert human rights, solve public health problems, and prevent threats linked to climate change. Rossalyn is currently involved in the fuller project for international reporting, which brings together freelance journalists from all over the world, and aims to reinforce the position of women in the media. She was previously a senior reporter at BuzzFeed News in London, where she covered the refugee crisis and terrorist attacks in Europe in particular. Rossalyn also distinguished herself by investigating online bullying and domestic violence.
She was nominated news reporter of the Year in 2016 by Words by Women Awards, and finalist for the British Journalist’s New Journalist of the Year Award in 2015 for her work. In 2017, she appears in the Forbes list of “30 under 30 in media“, which honours the 30 important leading figures under 30 in the European media. We are proud to welcome her onto the stage of Web2day.
On a different, but no less exciting note, we’ll have the pleasure of welcoming Julien Lesaicherre, the head of Workplace by Facebook in whole of the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa). Workplace is a new tool launched in 2016 by Facebook, aimed at professionals, with the goal of connecting all the company’s colleagues, and helping them to communicate better. The platform has already attracted large groups, in France. for example, it has already been adopted by SNCF, Free, and Century 21.
This digital expert, who started out at Microsoft for almost 10 years before joining Facebook in 2014, will tell us about his experience and his way of conceiving new digital uses to make the work environment more transparent, more open, and more interactive.
And to conclude the presentation of our first speakers, we’ll take an interest in one of the unmissable players of Artificial Intelligence in France: Rand Hindi. After a PhD in bioinformatics at the very respectable University College London, Rand quickly became a businessman and founded the Snips startup with 3 partners in 2012.
Their project: to eliminate the constraints linked to artificial intelligence so that it blends in naturally with our daily lives. The first success that showed the value of Snips was the mobile app, Tranquilien, which allows you to predict the public transport usage of Île-de-France. For the prestigious MIT magazine,: Rand Hindi is one of the most influential innovators in the world, and it’s an honour to have him with us this year at Web2day.
For those who haven”t purchased their tickets for Web2day yet, we remind you that the 3-day pass is still selling at the Early Bird price until April 3, €229 instead of €299!
