Business opportunities on the energy internet: Project SMILE

With the support of the Loire and Brittany regional governments, the aim of SMILE is to deploy a smart energy network on a grand scale, integrating digital development into the project, with a structure that’s built on digital communications between energy generators, networks, storage providers, distributors, and consumers. The position of the consumer as a stakeholder has made it possible to implement innovative business models.

SMILE works alongside major players in the energy sector, such as Enedis, the company that manages the French electricity distribution network and provides access to energy consumption data, and Nantes Metropolis, which provides experimental sites, as well as businesses Interactive Data Light or EP, which have successfully built a business model around energy transformation.
