Cognitive bias & design: what impact do they have on user experience?
Cognitive bias refers to mental shortcuts that allow us to effectively process the amount of information we are receiving at any given instant.
The problem? These apparently logical shortcuts contain errors, and therefore affect our perceptions and decisions without us even being aware of it.
And the design in all this? As a designer, I will outline a way in which you can understand some of these 175 biases, so that you will then be able to choose whether to use them or not in your next design, e-commerce site, experiment or product – but this time, knowingly.
